Paint Out Poulsbo paints the town

Paint Out Poulsbo, an art show and competition, will return to downtown Poulsbo for the fourth time on Saturday, June 1.

This event, sponsored by Peninsula Music and Arts Society in support of its scholarship fund, will feature both a Plein Air and a juried competition. All art entered into the competition will be available for sale on the day of the event.

The event will be held at Sons of Norway and will be open to the public from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. for art viewing and sales. Entertainment will be offered throughout the day and will include Viking Brass, Kitsap Chordsman, and other groups.

The Plein Air event will feature artists setting up downtown and at the waterfront, creating art on the spot. Professional, amateur, and student artists are invited to participate and can register for the event on June 1 at the Sons of Norway, between 7:30 a.m. and 10 a.m. Completed Plein Air pieces will be displayed and available for sale at the Sons of Norway by 3 p.m.

The juried art competition and sale will include approximately 60 pieces of art created by professional, amateur, and student artists. In addition, Poulsbo Art League and Kitsap Photography Guild will have pieces on display and for sale. Art and photography will be available for sale beginning at 1 p.m.

An artists’ reception will be held at 6:15 p.m. where $3,200 in prizes will be awarded to the winning pieces, as decided by a panel of judges: Sylvia Carlson, Jeffery Kooker, Becky Marshall, and Kenna Moser. The reception will include performances by some of Peninsula Music and Art Society’s 2019 scholarship winners.

All funds raised from Paint Out Poulsbo will enhance Peninsula Music and Art Society’s ability to support Kitsap County students in their pursuit of advanced degrees and training in visual or performing arts.
