KINGSTON — Comments posted on MySpace earlier this week caused unnecessary heartache and fear at Kingston Junior High School.
On April 30, a rumor began circulating through Kingston Junior High about a possible act of violence being planned at the school on May 15.
It turned out to be just that.

PORT GAMBLE — It would be about half the size, but the controversy surrounding a proposed private dock on Port Gamble Bay is bigger than ever.
The dock, originally planned to stretch 220 feet from the bay’s western shore, would have to be reduced to 100 feet to comply with Kitsap County Code.
POULSBO — Poulsbo City Councilwoman Connie Lord has hopes the ugly duckling State Route 305 project will turn into a beautiful swan or something close to it at the south end of the project.
“There’s not much we can do at the north end of the project, but there are some things we can do on the south,” Lord said.
The Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office has issued an Amber Alert as deputies seek North Kitsap resident Rebecca Khirstean Forrester, 32. Forrester reportedly abducted her 2-month-old daughter, Serenity Withrow, Wednesday.
The infant’s life is believed to be in danger.
POULSBO — Kingston High School may need more money. That was the buzz trickling throughout the North Kitsap School Board meeting April 26.
When voters approved a $60.1 million capital bond for the district in 2001, $1.2 million was estimated for furniture and equipment at the new Kingston High School. When construction began on the campus in 2005, that portion of budget was updated and increased to a total of $2 million.
POULSBO — As Miss Viking Fest 2006 Jasmine Campbell gave a tearful farewell Friday night, she didn’t have to look far for her successor.
One of her princesses, Whitney Glebe, who stood by Campbell’s side during her reign, used a bit of humor to woo the judges as she joked her way to the Miss Viking Fest 2007 crown during the eighth annual Miss Viking Fest pageant at Christ Memorial Church.
“Viking Fest is definitely the place to be. I’m so glad my grandmother took me for my birthday,” Glebe said as she mimicked a bubbly 8-year-old experiencing all of the sights, sounds and smells of the three-day festival for the first time.
POULSBO — Poulsbo-North Kitsap Rotary Club President-elect Donna Strep’s main emphasis will be on youth once she assumes the reins of the North End service organization from outgoing President Brad Camp.
After Saturday’s 25th annual auction at the Sons of Norway concluded, an elated Strep couldn’t thank the community enough for its support of the club’s scholarship program.
“Our goal was set at $30,000, which was more than last year,” she said. “We raised $35,000.”
PORT ORCHARD — Members of the Kitsap County Democratic Party will present a list of replacement candidates for North Kitsap Commissioner Chris Endresen, who announced Sunday she will resign in June to serve as the state director for U.S. Sen. Maria Cantwell.
The process will begin at the 23rd District meeting at 4 p.m. May 6 at the Poulsbo Fire Hall.
HANSVILLE — Different studios splashed with color and creativity showed off artists’ work to the public over the weekend with the help of the Hansville Arts and Crafts Guild’s tour.
With a variety of media to choose from, visitors got to see and try everything from woodworking to painting to long arm quilting to neon glass work and the creators were glad to explain each craft to curious onlookers.
PORT GAMBLE — Port Gamble is again taking center stage in an effort to help raise money for the Kitsap Arts & Crafts scholarship fund — this time it’s sharing its history.
Last year, volunteers set up a historical house tour with just a little time to plan. This time around, they started early and are excited by the possibilities of sharing stories and facts from the old mill town with visitors.

In an effort to capture those gardeners and offer the best prices, different groups in the area are featuring plant sales to coincide with the season’s change.
As word of Kitsap County Commissioner Chris Endresen’s upcoming resignation spread through the North End, a sense of apprehension permeated the underlying sadness of her departure.
Endresen has championed numerous North End causes and issues during her three terms as a commissioner and her absence will definitely be felt, said Poulsbo Mayor Kathryn Quade.
