A public hearing has been set to consider the proposed North Viking Avenue UGA Annexation for 7:15 p.m. Aug. 11 in council chambers at City Hall.

Applicants, signers of a petition to annex, are proposing adding 72.31 acres of land north of the State Highway 305 and Viking Avenue intersection to Poulsbo. Four single-family residences on Viking, NW Vetter Road, Vetter Road NE, Commerce Street and First Avenue are involved.

The Poulsbo City Council previously allowed a petition for annexation to be circulated. That was received and forwarded to the Kitsap County Auditor. The auditor’s OK was sent in June.

At its July 21 meeting, the Poulsbo City Council unanimously approved a $50,000 transfer from the Revenue Stabilization Fund Unallocated. The money will be used to pay a settlement with Pape & Sons over March 1999 utility work related to the Viking Avenue reconstruction project.

City council unanimously approved the agreement and authorized the mayor to sign the settlement at its April 21 meeting. Councilman Mike Regis was absent.

Pape had filed claims against the City of Poulsbo for alleged extra costs that arose during the Viking Avenue project including impact costs and liquidated damages.

The April 21 settlement agreed to a “mutual and reciprocal release to Pape for any claims (Poulsbo) may have had against Pape related to its work on the Project except for warranty claims that may exist.”
