North Kitsap briefs

Kingston award

The American Public Works Association Washington Chapter recently announced that Kitsap County Public Works earned one of seven APWA’s 2023 Public Works Project of the Year Awards.

The award was in the Disaster or Emergency category, less than $5 million division, for the Washington Boulevard Landslide Stabilization Project in downtown Kingston.

It constructed a horizontal drain system, stormwater improvements and mechanically stabilized earth slope to stabilize a stretch of historically unstable roadway that serves as the sole access to services for 22 homes.

Winning infrastructure projects are publicly owned and promote excellence in construction, management and administration, a news release states. The awards recognize the alliance between the managing agency, the contractor, the consultant, and their cooperative achievements for the good of their communities.
