North End churches light up with candles, carols, holiday music and special tellings of the Christmas story. Here is a directory of churches with services and special programs offered this month. Contact the churches to confirm events.

Bayside Community Church, (360) 297-2000, 25992 Barber Cut Off Road, Kingston. Special Christmas services with music and singing take place during regular worship times the Sunday morning before Christmas, Dec. 23, and Christmas Eve, Dec. 24.

Eglon Community Church, (360) 638-2020, 33690 Eglon Road N.E. off Hansville Road. Christmas services take place the Sunday prior at 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. Dec. 23.

Faith Episcopal Church, (360) 271-4987, 23096 West First Street N.E. in the VFW Hall, Kingston. A special Christmas Eve service takes place at 5 p.m. Dec. 24 with caroling.

Faith Lutheran Church, (360) 297-2736, 26736 Miller Bay Road N.E., Kingston. A mid-week Advent service takes place at 7 p.m. Dec. 19. The Christmas Eve service is at 7 p.m. Dec. 24. A Christmas Day service is at 10 a.m. Dec. 25.

The Gathering Church, (360) 297-4702, 28096 Hansville Road, Kingston. The congregation meets for prayer every Sunday, 8:45-9:15 a.m.; classes, 9:30-11 a.m. and worship services 11:15 a.m.-12 p.m. Everyone is welcome.

Hansville Community Church, (360) 638-2335, 7543 Twin Spits Road, Hansville. “A Hansville Christmas” takes place at 7 p.m. Dec. 15 and 22, featuring holiday recollections told by members of the church congregation, interspersed with carols. The new pastor will give a short message followed by the Christmas story as told by children in a one-act play. The evening ends with a candlelight finale and refreshments. Everyone is welcome.

Indianola Living Hope Church, (360) 297-2340, 20789 N.E. Division, Indianola. There will be a Thanksgiving service at 10 a.m. A Christmas program with choir and children’s performance takes place at 7 p.m. Dec. 16. A Christmas Eve program is at 7 p.m. Dec. 24.

Kingston Christian Church, (360) 297-2551, Highway 104, downtown Kingston. “Christmas by Candlelight” takes place at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. Dec. 2. This elegant evening includes specialty desserts; music by jazz saxophonist Hadley Caliman, the adult church choir, caroling for everyone and a flute/violin/piano trio of Nathan and Andrea Johnson and Debbie King. The event is free (but call or drop by for a ticket to reserve a seat) and childcare is provided. A short Christmas Eve service for families takes place at 7 p.m. Dec. 24 and includes the Christmas story and singing.

North Peninsula Unity Center, (360) 297-5100, 26011 Ohio Ave. NE, Kingston. A Christmas candlelight ceremony takes place at 4 p.m. Dec. 23. The regular 10 a.m. service that Sunday will not be held.

Redeemer United Methodist Church, (360) 297-4847, 9900 Shorty Campbell Road at the corner of Parcell Road off Highway 104, Kingston. The Hometown Band performs a Christmas concert at 7 p.m. Dec. 8 in conjunction with Kingston Country Christmas. The church choir of 22 voices sings its first ever Christmas Cantata, “O Night Divine,” a blend of old and new carols created by Jonathan Crumpton and Sue Smith, at 10 a.m. Dec. 16. The annual Christmas Eve Candlelight Service takes place at 7 p.m. Dec. 24 with the Christmas story sung and read. The evening’s highlight is the lighting of candles as “Silent Night” is sung. The public is invited to all events.

S’Klallam Worship Center, (260) 297-5505, 32274 Little Boston Rd. N.E., Little Boston. There will be a special children’s performance at 6 p.m. Dec. 9 and other Christmas services to be announced. Call for details.
