New KCSO K-9 team captures first suspects

Odin, Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office’s newest K-9, and his partner, deputy Aaron Baker, celebrated their first team capture recently.

It started when Poulsbo police spotted a stolen U-Haul van, per a KCSO news release. The driver sped off, and, since state law prohibits pursuits in the case of property theft, deputies instead staged at major intersections tracking the van as it headed for Silverdale.

A member of the public called 911 and reported seeing the van drive down a dead-end road. Baker and Odin then tracked the two suspects, who were hiding in a creek basin culvert.

Once Odin found them, the man and woman surrendered and were taken into custody without incident.

As a reward for the capture, Odin was given “the prestigious peanut butter dog biscuit donut.”
