Moorage and fuel operations have been closed at the Port of Poulsbo since October due to ongoing construction and maintenance projects, which have resulted in significant revenue losses, port officials say.
“We’re pushing to reopen facilities as quickly as possible,” harbormaster Daryll Trask said. “We appreciate your patience as we finalize these upgrades to enhance the Port’s services and infrastructure.”
Construction work began with relocating the X Dock to prevent grounding during low tides, Trask said. The work is mostly completed, with the exception of a few electrical components.
Regarding fuel dock maintenance, fuel tank work is expected to take place Jan. 27 with maintenance and inspections to be done Feb. 3-6. Fuel sales will remain suspended until the work is completed.
Trask said partial moorage at the E and F docks is expected to open soon. “Now we can keep the fueling operation going on both sides of the fuel barge in all tidal ranges since the barge will no longer ground at lower tides,” Trask said. “These improvements will have the same benefits for our E dock office.”
In other port news, Mark Singer recently resigned as port commissioner position 1 after serving over five years. Those interested in applying for that seat can send applications via email to Harbormaster@portofpoulsbo.com. Applications are due by noon Feb. 19. The term runs through the remainder of the year.
