Man who died in P.O. fire identified

The name of the South Kitsap resident killed in a mobile home fire last week was Kenneth E. Giberson, 56, the Kitsap County coroner’s office reported July 5.

Giberson was the sole occupant of the home and was cooking at the time the fire started, fire marshal David Lynam said.

Crews received a call just before 6 p.m. June 29 to the mobile home, located on the 9300 block of Transue Lane. Smoke could be seen by crews on Highway 16.

Crews from South Kitsap Fire and Rescue, as well as the Bremerton Fire Department and Navy Region Northwest, responded. SKF&R engine 17 was on scene for a majority of the night.

An autopsy done by county forensic pathologist Lindsey Harle revealed the cause of death to be smoke inhalation. A dog was also killed in the blaze. The home is a total loss, spokesperson Laine Desilets said. The cause of the fire was accidental.
