Man allegedly assaults girlfriend, fractures facial bones

Suspect believe woman had been cheating on him

A man was arrested last week in Bremerton after allegedly physically assaulting his girlfriend after he believed she had been cheating on him.

According to the incident report, the victim told authorities that Jackie Slater had used his fists and a metal broom pole to assault her. Bremerton Police officers reported the victim’s eyes were swollen shut and she was bleeding heavily from the face and eyes.

The victim was transported to Harrison Medical Center in Bremerton. An emergency room doctor told police that he believed she suffered fractured bones in her face, specifically around her eyes, documents read.

Slater showed officers an injury to his right hand that he said had occurred during the assault. He was also treated at Harrison Medical Center in Bremerton before being released to police custody.

The victim stated that she and Slater were dating and lived together at the residence. Slater explained to officers that he had found recent photographs of the victim on a phone and believed she was cheating on him, according to the Bremerton Police Department.

Slater was transported to the Kitsap County Jail where he was booked for second-degree domestic violence assault. He is being held on bail for $270,000.
