POULSBO — Louise King died Jan. 21 at Liberty Shores in Poulsbo. She was 98.

Born April 2, 1914 in Rector, Ark. to Charles Otto and Cora Belle (Navens) Harper. Attended high school and college in Ventura and Long Beach, Calif. Active in sports, played the violin.

On June 28, 1947, married George Jackson “Jack” King in Long Beach; he worked for the state Division of Forestry. Lived in Atascadero, Humboldt County, King City, Grover City, Lincoln City, Brookings, Ore.

Moved to Poulsbo to be close to her son and youngest daughter. Member of Eastern Star and Wagon Train. Enjoyed reading decorating magazines, gardening, travel, bird watching, cats, and picnics.

Preceded in death by her husband, Jack. Survived by her son, Charles Murphy of Poulsbo; daughters, Jackie Thayer of Poulsbo and Pennay Johnson of Weldon, Calif.; four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, many neighbors and friends.
