Log truck loses load on Highway 305 causing backup, no injuries reported

Highway was closed to one lane for about an hour around 8 a.m.

The Poulsbo Fire Department and the Poulsbo Police Department responded to a call around 8:19 a.m. on Monday advising of a log truck towing a load which had come loose on Highway 305 at the Johnson Way NE intersection.

While no injuries were reported in the incident, Highway 305 was closed to one lane until shortly before 11 a.m., causing significant backups in both directions.

According to Washington State Patrol trooper Mark Hodgson, the driver for the Arlington-based Allen Brothers Trucking, was cited for not securing cables properly following an inspection of the vehicle. Hodgson also noted that since there wasn’t any property damage reported, the incident was not being treated as a collision.

Poulsbo Police Chief Dan Schoonmaker said given the volume of traffic traveling along that stretch of highway, it was fortunate that no injuries occurred in the incident.

“I think we’re pretty lucky,” Schoonmaker said.
