Dear Editor...

” Government Ordinance is unreasonable Like the flailing of a wounded and dying beast, our out-going form of county government is again striking out at the people. This time it’s with an instrument of tyranny that is reminiscent of the Gestapo in Nazi Germany. The latest madness proposed by the county is an 11-page Public Nuisance Ordinance which would give the already goose-stepping Mark Grimm and John Quatermanss of code enforcement the authority to declare anything you have, do, say , or are, a public nuisance for which you will pay mightily. In a time when diversity of lifestyle and heritage is considered to be a strength of community and nation, this ordinance would like to have us all live in the same regimented box. That box of course being designed and styled by the wackos from the county planning department who can’t handle being anything less than king. Most of the legitimate items in this ordinance such as dumping in streams, and vermin habitat as a health hazard, already exist as laws at the state and federal level. These legitimate concerns are present in the ordinance only as cover for the other monkey business the county is attempting to get away with. Unquestionably, if this ordinance is passed, the county will be getting the pants sued off them on a regular basis over the destruction of someone’s treasures or heirlooms, or for violations of civil rights. Before you allow the commissioners to give up your personal and property rights, think long and hard about past and future abuses of this type of authority. Once these rights are gone, they may be gone forever and your apathy will come back to haunt you. Please contact the county commissioners immediately, and let’s hope that our freeholders can do something about this before it is too late. DAN WISSENBACH Silverdale     “
