KINGSTON — The Kitsap Regional Library continues to work toward the creation of new library space in Kingston.

KRL is partnering with the Kingston Village Green Foundation to support the creation of a new community center. The Village Green Foundation will formally kick-off a public fundraising campaign with a community celebration on Jan. 26. (See story on page 17).

The planned community center includes space for a 4,000-square-foot library, which would more than triple the size of the existing Kingston Branch Library.

The Village Green Foundation has been working now for several years to plan and create a new community center in the Village Green Park on West Kingston Road. In partnership with the Boys and Girls Club of Snohomish County and the Library, the Village Green Foundation has obtained a state grant and a grant from the Birkenfeld Trust, along with significant other pledges toward the facility.

The Village Green Foundation is in the process of hiring an architect to design the building.
