Kitsap Rescue Mission moves from Bremerton to Port Orchard

Kitsap Rescue Mission volunteers recently assisted with the organization’s move from the Quality Inn in Bremerton to the Pacific Building in Port Orchard, marking a significant step in its efforts to expand services.

The mission received approval to begin relocating, moving into a new 20,000-square-foot facility. As part of the transition, the mission collected gently used household items for its “Moving On Boxes,” which help guests transition into permanent housing. Needed items included twin-size sheets, bath towels, washcloths, shower curtains, pots, pans and cooking utensils.

Volunteers were essential to the move, working multiple shifts over several days. On Jan. 17 and Jan. 21 they helped load and unload five trucks, assemble bed frames and complete setup in the new building. Additional tasks included unboxing supplies, setting up partitions, and cleaning tables and chairs.

The mission also worked to prepare the building for an open house scheduled for Jan. 22. Kitsap Rescue Mission provided snacks, drinks and lunch to keep volunteers fueled throughout the work. The mission continued to seek volunteers for the final stages of the move, including loading and unloading trucks Jan. 23.
