Kitsap breathes easier after smoke clears out

Kitsap County’s air quality has vastly improved, according to the Puget Sound Clean Air Agency. The county, along with King and Pierce, are deemed do have good air quality following nearly a week of unhealthy conditions.

Westerly winds are blowing the wildfire smoke out of the Puget Sound area, and that has also prompted the agency to end an air quality burn ban that included charcoal grills and campfires. That ban officially ends at 1 p.m. Thursday. Fire safety burn bans remain in effect, however.
