Initiative 841 makes sense

Ergonomics are an important part of the workplace, as any worker who has a repetitive job can attest, but should Labor & Industries’ be able to enact stricter regulations at the expense of the jobs themselves?

Of course not.

Initiative 841 would repeal the idealistic ergonomics standards before they get out of hand and might just give the state’s ailing economy a lift out of bed. Or at least a nudge in the right direction.

Ergonomics rules are already adopted by many businesses and should remain there. That’s where they belong anyway.

L&I’s aim to increase its ergonomics stranglehold on Washington should end here and now — through the repetitive motion of voting. The idea of some degree of ergonomics knowledge is a good one, but L&I is long known for taking such concepts and making them unbearable weights on the shoulders of businesses.

I-841 makes sense and we feel it is well worth a “yes” vote Nov. 4.
