Ideas for the month of love | Hansville Happenings | February

The question is, “Who do you want to send your love to?” Well, it’s February and it’s the month of love so again, the question is, “Who do you want to send your love to?”

Should it be to your mother or father, in the form of one card to both? Should you send flowers or a box of candy, too? Then, there are your siblings. … Would just a card do? Or how about your spouse? Card and flowers and candy? Should you plan a dinner out? Or a trip? So many questions.

Well, if none of the above seem right, how about a few suggestions.

If you are the male spouse, instead of dinner out, how about cooking a meal at home? No need for flowers or candy if you do this special treat. If you are the female spouse, special pampering would be nice. Maybe bring coffee to him in bed, and then snuggle up with your coffee cup, too, and talk about the upcoming day. Or, maybe at cocktail time, bring his and one for you, and do the same snuggling. (Just a thought).

A phone call to the parents or siblings would be a nice thing; nicer than a card maybe. Conversation is always good with someone you love.

Now I’ll tell you about a gift I got from my daughter on this special day of love. She picked me up for a day of “togetherness.” First we went for coffee and muffins. Then we went to get manicures. Then lunch, a movie, then shampoo and sets at the beauty shop, then we stopped for a cocktail, then we met the rest of the family for dinner. What made this so special was she spent the whole day giving me the gift of herself — the best gift of all.

So I maybe what I’m suggesting is that you give those you love the special gift of yourself. If it takes snuggling or a lengthy phone call or even a visit, consider giving this gift. It can only turn out good for you too, don’t you think?

Love given almost always comes back ten-fold. So say those romantics among us, and I maybe I’m one of them.
