Home suffers significant damage in fire near Kingston

A rental home suffered significant damage in a fire the evening of Nov. 28 near Kingston.

After investigation, it was determined the cause of the fire was likely an outdoor refrigerator.

The two adult occupants weren’t home when the fire was reported at about 6:45 p.m. but their dog and two birds died, a North Kitsap Fire & Rescue news release says.

Traffic between Kingston and Poulsbo was limited to one lane on Highway 104 between Ritter Lane and Bond Road for hours.

Although the landlord is insured, the couple did not have renter’s insurance to cover their possessions.
