“The first Bellringer contributions have already arrived, marking the 49th year of Bellringer giving in North Kitsap. This year, as they have for the past 49 years, people in North Kitsap are remembering their less fortunate neighbors with donations to the Bellringer Fund sponsored by the Raab Foundation and the Poulsbo Noon Lions Club. All funds raised in the Bellringer Fund Campaign are used to purchase toys and food baskets for North Kitsap people in need. The fund also assists with requests throughout the year for assistance with fuel bills, clothing food, medical bills, transportation, rent and school supplies. The goal for this year’s fund is $20,000-the same goal the fund reached last year. Donations may be made at Kitsap Bank in Poulsbo, the North Kitsap Herald office (next to Dairy Queen) on Highway 305 in Poulsbo, or checks may be mailed to the Herald office, P. O. Box 278, Poulsbo 98370. Only cash or checks are accepted. Donations may also be made in memory of an individual or family. The Herald prints an update in each issue during the holiday season that includes the names of recent contributors, as well as the amounts of anonymous donations. New toys are also being collected for a North Kitsap Toy Drive sponsored by Jennifer’s, Heritage Fireplace, Kitsap Community Federal Credit Union, Sir Bean, and the North Kitsap Herald. Unwrapped toys and gift certificates may be brought to any of these locations from Nov. 27 to Dec. 14. All toys will be distributed to Fishline. “
