Get items fixed free at event in Port Orchard

The Fix-it Fair in Port Orchard Dec. 14 is a free community gathering where people can have their broken belongings repaired by local volunteer fixers with a variety of skills and knowledge.

The event will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Bob Oke Long Lake Community Building, 5100 Long Lake Road SE. Participants must arrive by 1:30 p.m. Those who arrive after that will be asked to attend a future event.

Kitsap County residents are welcome to bring one or two items per event. Fixers will attempt repairs on one item at a time. If there’s time, you can join the line again with your second item. However, we may limit repairs to one item if the event is busy.

At this event, fixers will attempt to repair: mendable clothing and textiles, like tablecloths, curtains, jeans, and more (sorry, no zippers); holiday string lights; small household appliances, like lamps, vacuums, toasters and more; and jewelry. There will also be a knife sharpening available at no-cost; limit one per person.

Kitsap County Solid Waste Division is hosting the event. Visit its Fit-it-Fair website for details. RSVP is requested to prepare fixers, but not required as it’s first-come, first-served.

All items must be unexpired and unopened.
