‘Fix Our Ferries’ town halls return

The doors to the 2025 legislative session opened Jan. 13, and Kitsap County state Rep. Greg Nance of Bainbridge Island again plans to work to improve the Washington State Ferries.

Nance, who represents the 23rd District, is resuming his “Fix Our Ferries” town hall event series around Kitsap.

The public is encouraged to provide input on their experiences with WSF. Nance will lead each meeting with local officials, and present his plan for “getting boats in the water” and restoring reliable service.

WSF has come under scrutiny for years for frequent service disruptions and delays, which it attributes to staffing shortages and underfunding. The state budget is at an overall $10 billion deficit this year, and outgoing Gov. Jay Inslee has called on state agencies to make reductions.

“We know that this is going to be a tough budget year,” Nance said.
