Fire during birthday party destroys home

Another home also destroyed in another blaze

A birthday party turned tragic for a Silverdale family Aug. 7.

At approximately 4:35 p.m., Central Kitsap Fire & Rescue was dispatched to a residential structure fire in the 10000 block of Capitola Place NW in Silverdale.

All occupants were able to safely get out of the home. They had been celebrating a daughter’s birthday when the fire occurred. The fire is believed to have started downstairs, but the county fire marshal is investigating and will determine the cause and origin. Mutual aid was provided by Bremerton and Poulsbo Fire, and Navy Region Northwest.

Meanwhile, an early morning fire Aug. 10 destroyed a home in the 12000 block of NW Overland Trail in Lake Symington.

CKF&R crews found the one-story, single-family home with fire showing on all sides. All occupants had evacuated, and there were no injuries. The Kitsap County fire marshal will investigate the cause.
