Festival, market coming to Manchester

The Manchester Community Association is hosting the annual Manchester Festival and Flea Market Aug. 6 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Stormwater Park downtown.

There will be vendors selling hand-crafted jewelry, yard art, photography, handmade soaps, wooden signs, household items, embroidered baby clothing, woodworking crafts, baby blankets and more.

The Manchester Library will have a kids craft table where children can build a wooden boat.

There will be live music featuring local musicians and a pet parade put on by Willowtree Animal Hospital at 10:30 a.m. with fun prizes in four categories. The MCA will be raffling off photographs donated by locals Noelle Morris and Sue Adams.

The association has hosted the Manchester Festival for over 30 years. It was started as a way to bring together the community in celebration and an avenue for local artists to showcase their talents.

Money raised helps to fund other MCA events throughout the year like the Earth Day Celebration, Octoberfest and the annual Tree Lighting Ceremony the first Sunday in December where Santa arrives by fire truck and the local grade-schoolers serenade the community with Christmas carols.

MCA meets the fourth Tuesday of every month at the library at 6:30 p.m. and invites anyone interested in helping with these events to attend. For details, email manchesterfestivals@gmail.com.
