Fathoms O’ Fun Festival set for June 29-30

Fathoms O’ Fun will return to the streets of downtown Port Orchard for a weekend of festivities June 29-30 as well as the 55th annual Grand Parade on Bay Street.

A two-day vendor and craft show will be highlighted by the June 29 6 p.m. commencement of the annual parade, which will run from Port Orchard Boulevard and down Bay Street to the new roundabout at the Bethel Avenue intersection. Parade attendees are encouraged to arrive early, both to find a spot on the side of the route and to enjoy a pre-parade demonstration from the Tenino Motorcycle Drill Team.

Included in the parade will be the float of the Fathoms O’ Fun Royalty Court, who has toured to events such as the Daffodil and Rhody festivals as part of their annual schedule. Royalty tour the various events from April to September.

Organizers of one of the weekend’s newest additions is hoping the ball drops in their favor. The Sidney Avenue hill from Kitsap Street to Bay will host the Great Ball Race at 5:15 before the parade. The cost is $10 per ball, and entries have the chance to win a grand prize of $500, among other prizes.

While the festival lasts two days, Fathoms has many more opportunities to join in the summer fun. Music lovers can make their way to the Port of Bremerton Marina Park Gazebo just about every Thursday for Concerts by the Bay. The 2024 series of free shows began June 6 and will continue until Sept. 6 with special shows on July 6 for Independence Day weekend and July 21.

July 6 will also be the date for the 4th of July fireworks and vendor show. Other summer events to note are the South Kitsap Fire Volunteer Association’s Hot Foot 5K June 22 and the Hot Rods at the High School car show July 21.
