Family, pets displaced following house fire in Silverdale

A family and their pets were displaced following a house fire in the 900 block of NW Calypso Circle in Silverdale just after midnight Feb. 7.

Upon arrival, Central Kitsap firefighters were met with a fully involved structure fire. The call was upgraded to a second alarm with mutual aid provided by Navy Region Northwest Fire, Poulsbo fire, and Bremerton fire departments, a Central Kitsap Fire & Rescue news release states.

The fire appears to have started on the backside of the house, then traveled up the wall and into the attic, per CKF&R. The roof and second story of the home were destroyed.

The cold temperatures and icy conditions presented challenges as firefighters began working to extinguish the fire and the water they were using added to the icy roads and driveway, CKF&R says.
