Domestic violence program set for Oct. 15

PORT ORCHARD – In support of the month of October designated as National Domestic Violence Awareness Month, the Kitsap County Domestic Violence Task Force, in conjunction with the YWCA of Kitsap County, will hold a public program 12-1:30 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 15, to assist in a continuing awareness effort focused on eliminating domestic violence and on helping victims.

The event will be held in front of the Kitsap County Administrative Building, 619 Division St., in Port Orchard.

Free-standing “Silent Witnesses” will be on display to represent domestic violence homicide victims who lost their lives in Kitsap County. A shield on their chest explains their story.

Speakers include Kitsap County Sheriff Gary Simpson, Commissioner Rob Gelder, Judge Sally Olsen, Tina Robinson, Kitsap County Prosecuting Attorney, Britt Feldman and others. For more information contact Audrey Wolf at 360-479-0522.
