Dimension XR to offer expanded STEM summer camp series

Dimension XR in Port Orchard is bringing back its immersive STEM camp for kids this summer, offering four themed sessions designed to blend technology, creativity and fun in an interactive learning environment.

After a successful pilot program last year, owners Sean and Neisha Ong are expanding the camp for 2025. The camps are open to children ages 8 to 15 and take place at the Dimension XR facility in Port Orchard, which also offers laser tag and escape rooms.

“We want to offer a place not only for kids to have fun, but to learn about technology and science,” Sean Ong said. “Since we’re a high-tech-based business, we wanted to share some of that knowledge and experience with the kids in the region.”

Each camp session runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. over three days and includes hands-on STEM projects, creative activities, and virtual reality field trips. Campers wear VR headsets and “travel” as a group to explore topics like the solar system, atoms and molecules, and natural environments.

Alongside these virtual experiences, participants build circuits, model airplanes, and mini science kits. They also get hands-on with experiments at a demonstration table, where instructors break down scientific principles and let kids try them out for themselves.

“We try to incorporate some fun time, and not only do they get to play laser tag and VR games, but they also learn how the technology works,” Ong said. “They learn about the sensors, the headsets, what makes it all possible.”

Dimension XR will host four themed sessions this summer:Scientists Camp: July 7–9

Designers Camp: July 21–23

Animators Camp: August 4–6

Engineers Camp: August 18–20

Each session is $250, with a discount available for Port Orchard residents. Ong said the demand has been strong, with families reaching out months in advance asking about summer plans.

“The response has been great,” Ong said. “That interest really pushed us to get the word out early and bring the camp back with even more options this year.”
