County reschedules timber harvest code meeting due to high public interest

Briefings will be held in early February in Kingston and Suquamish

The Kitsap County Planning Commission announced that a meeting to discuss code changes for timber harvest practices will be rescheduled due to high public interest.

According to a Jan. 25 press release, heavy interest from landowners and members of the public were the driving forces behind the county’s decision to reschedule the meeting. The county will be requesting additional comments and input prior to presenting the draft forest practice code update to the planning commission. More information on the schedule can be found on the Planning Commission’s website.

Those who wish to learn more or provide input on the proposed code changes can do so by visiting the county website for the code update.

Additionally, a community briefing will be held Feb. 6 at 7 p.m. at the Kingston Village Green Community Center, 26159 Dulay Road NE.

The Suquamish Citizens Advisory Committee will be briefed on Feb 7 at 6 p.m. at the Suquamish Elementary School Library, 18950 Park Avenue NE.
