Course offered for new home buyers

The Kitsap Housing Coalition (KHC), in conjunction with the Washington State Housing Finance Commission (WSHFC) and the Bremerton Housing Authority (BHA), is offering a free First-Time Home Buyer Class on May 31 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Westpark Community Center, 76 Russell Road, in Bremerton.

This class is a five-hour course designed to educate perspective home buyers on the home buying process, available assistance programs, credit repair, planning and budgeting, how to choose a realtor, and negotiating.

This course is required for many available first-time homebuyer and down payment assistance programs. The certificate issued is good for two years.

There is no charge for the class or handouts.

This class is taught by local instructors, trained by the WSHFC. It is co-sponsored by the WSHFC, KHC and KCCHA.

Home builders host

fundraising event

The Home Builders Association of Kitsap County will sponsor its third annual Bike & Rod Canal Run on June 7.

The event is a 120-mile motorcycle and car run benefiting “Hang on Kitsap,” a fall-prevention project that installs handrails in the bathrooms of Kitsap seniors.

Entry fee is $10.

Hospice offers grief

support for youth

Hospice of Kitsap County has announced it will sponsor a day-long retreat designed to help kids ages 4-12 cope with the death of a loved one.

Attendees will participate in arts and crafts, journal writing and sharing (dress for play).

Lunch is included.

A simultaneous support group will be held for parents and guardians.

The event is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on June 14 at Silverwood School, 14000 Central Valley Road, in Poulsbo.
