South Kitsap Helpline is hosting a first-ever fundraiser to help provide Christmas gifts for local teens in crisis, ages 13-16.

“Community Toy Run for Teens” is slated from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 7. The toy run will consist of six Port Orchard stops that will have information and resources, along with snacks available for all participants. Each stop is 30 minutes.

Entry is $5 and a teen gift per adult.

The first stop at 10 a.m. is at That One Bakery, 707 Bay St., where all participants can pick up passports to be stamped at all stops. Refreshments and directions to the other five stops will be provided.

The other stops are at the Westsound Treatment Center, 1415 Lumsden Rd.; Washington National Guard, 1950 Mile Hill Dr.; Port Orchard Eagles, 4001 Jackson Ave.; The Sidney Museum and Art Gallery, 202 Sidney Ave., and the final stop at the Port Orchard Pavilion, 701 Bay St.

There will be a lunch, beverages, live music, passport winners and 50/50 raffle winners announced.

According to Vilman Monroe, public relations and outreach director for SK Helpline, a group started planning the event in late October.

Members of the group were volunteers Grady Folweiler, Fred Williams, Bonnie Gorecki and James Goodman, family specialist with the Washington National Guard.

“We want people to give to the forgotten teens in need,” Gorecki said.

Monroe said members of the South Kitsap High School NJROTC will assist at each of the stops to stamp passports and help set up tables at the final stop.
