Central Kitsap community mourning loss of three teens

Hundreds gathered at a candlelight vigil on Jan. 11. Another vigil is scheduled Jan. 12, 6:30 p.m., at Olympic High School.

SEABECK — The afternoon before she died, Jenna Farley, 14, and the Olympic High School cheerleading squad won the 2015 Harbor CheerFest competition in Gig Harbor.

During the 2014 season, Luther Stoudermire, 18, had 24 yards rushing and seven tackles in five games for the Olympic High School Trojans football team.

Kassidy Miranda Clark was also young — 16 — and full of ambition and promise.

Today, a community is mourning the end of those lives. Hundreds gathered at a candlelight vigil on Jan. 11. Another vigil is scheduled Jan. 12, 6:30 p.m., at Olympic High School.

The three, passengers in a car driven by a friend, were killed in a single-vehicle rollover crash, shortly after 3 a.m. Jan. 11 on the 6600 block of Seabeck-Holly Road NW.

The friend, a 17-year-old, was taken to Harrison Medical Center in Bremerton for treatment of injuries and later booked into juvenile detention on three counts of vehicular homicide.

Clark, Farley and Stoudermire were declared dead at the scene by Central Kitsap Fire and Rescue medics, Sheriff’s spokesman Deputy Scott Wilson reported.

Wiggins-Stoudermire was the front-seat passenger, Wilson reported. Clark and Farley were passengers in the back seat.

Patrol deputies dispatched to the scene arrived at 3:27 a.m. to find a 1996 Toyota Corolla 4-door on its top in a drainage ditch on the east side of the roadway.

“Deputies believe that the four young people had just left a party being held in the area,” Wilson reported.

“Sheriff’s traffic deputies are investigating whether excessive vehicle speed or impairment by the driver were factors in the cause of the crash. A search warrant was granted to investigators and a blood sample was obtained from the driver. The results of the blood draw are pending completion of toxicology tests at the Washington State Patrol Crime Lab.”

The county’s forensic pathologist will conduct an autopsy of the passengers, and the coroner will make a determination as to cause and manner of death, Wilson reported.

The Toyota Corolla was removed from the crash site and impounded as evidence.

“The investigation continues,” Wilson reported. “Persons with information about this crash are asked to contact Deputy Andrew Aman, sheriff’s traffic unit, at 360-337-4634.
