PORT ORCHARD — Signaling that the local seats will be up for election in a primary set for Aug. 4, Kitsap County Elections Division has opened a week-long filing period for candidates who intend to run for elected seats on city councils, the mayor’s office, and fire and port commissions.
Candidates who survive the primary election will face off in the Nov. 3 general election.
Those who intend to file have until 4:30 p.m., Friday, May 17 to do so. They can file online 4 p.m. on May 17 — nearly 75 percent of all candidates used this method in 2017 and 2018, according to the Elections Division. Candidates who choose to file by mail also have May 17 to toss their hats in the ring.
The candidates below have filed as of 10 a.m. on Monday. The list of candidates is being updated online on the county’s Elections Division candidate filing page.
