Lucha libre returns

Lucha libre, or Mexican wrestling, will be back in Kitsap for Fourth of July. The event begins at 1 p.m. Monday, July 4 at 2624 Sixth St., Bremerton. There will be a barbecue, fresh fruit and refreshments available.

Central Kitsap High School reunion

The Central Kitsap High School class of 1944 will have a reunion from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, July 22 at the Silverdale Beach Hotel. The alumni are all 85 years old and last year 28 attended the reunion. This year about 20 alumni plus their family and friends are expected to attend. Applications to ride on Navy ships during Seafair due July 7

Navy Morale, Welfare and Recreation will host guest cruises aboard U.S. Navy, Canada Navy and U.S. Coast Guard vessels Aug. 3 as part of Fleet Week for Seafair.

The cruises are open to all U.S. citizens eight years of age and older. They will depart from the Port of Seattle and last from six to eight hours. The cost is $20 per person and includes lunch. Due to security requirements, participating ships cannot be identified at this time.

The application deadline is July 7 and as space is limited, applications received will be processed at random. The procedure and form can be found online at www.navylifepnw.com/site/217/Seafair.aspx.

Educational farm walks

Washington State University Kitsap Extension will be hosting “Hot Summer Nights,” a series of educational farm walks that will showcase sustainable, small acreage farms in the area.

There will be a session July 18 that will cover vegetable multi-cropping at Red Barn Farm/Wyckels Farm, 212 NW Bucklin Ct., Bremerton. Another session is scheduled for August 8 on urban farming at Start Now Gardens, 1134 Bloomington Ave., Bremerton. Both farm walks are from 6 to 8 p.m. and are open to individuals and children older than 12 years. The cost is $15 per family and pre-registration is requested. Babysitter’s training classes at the American Red Cross

The American Red Cross’ babysitter’s training classes are designed for youth ages 11 to 15 that include hands-on activities, an instructional video, role-playing and discussions.
