TAX PREPARATION: Tax counseling requires classroom training, to be presented in early January and the successful completion of the IRS certification open book exam. There will be several Tax-Aide sites throughout the county to assist taxpayers from Feb. 1 to April 15. Volunteers are assigned to a site under the leadership of a local coordinator who also provides support for the unexpected questions that arise. The sites are open approximately eight hours each week. The tax-aides enter the taxpayers’ data on IRS supplied computers and the installed software performs all the required calculations. Tax-aide volunteers should be familiar with elementary computer data entry operations.

If you are interested in becoming tax wise and are willing to help your fellow man through this onerous task, please contact Doug Stauner at (360)692-4670 or Doug_St@netzero.com.
