A Bremerton man was arrested Monday for Domestic Violence and Assault with a Deadly Weapon.

Braxton D. Perkins was arrested after a Bremerton Police Officer saw him sitting on his girlfriend in the living room of their residence with a knife in his hand, according to the certificate of probable cause. The officer was on scene when he saw the incident occur, prompting him to immediately call for backup.

The officer drew his firearm and kicked open the door of the residence to approach Perkins; yelling at him to stop and drop the knife, according to court documents. Perkins turned and saw the officer, dropped the knife and rolled off of his girlfriend before he was promptly arrested.

BPD responded to an earlier domestic dispute that day between Perkins and his girlfriend at the Bremerton Ferry Terminal, which resulted in both of them going their separate ways, per court documents.

The knife of an estimated six inches was photographed and recovered, according to documents. Perkins went to the hospital for medical and mental evaluation.
