Despite cloudy skies, the spirit of freedom and unity filled Perry Avenue June 19, as community members gathered for the Bremerton Juneteenth Block Party, a free, family-friendly event held in honor of the day that marked the end of slavery in the United States.
Held from 1 to 5 p.m., the celebration featured a wide range of activities for all ages, including open mic performances, music by DJ XTen, face painting, food trucks, vendors, bounce houses, and classic card games like Spades and Uno. A beer garden was available for adults, and attendees joined in soul line dancing throughout the afternoon.
The event was hosted by The Brothers Tree Service, DocLuvTheKids, and Emerald City Outdoor Movies, with support from sponsors including Ten Ten Beauty Supply, Lost Barn Event Rentals, Little Barber Company, Travel by Kendra, and The Village Event Center.
