Bremerton fast ferry sailings canceled Thursday morning

Kitsap Transit removed the Rich Passage 1 from service on Wednesday evening, citing mechanical issues.

UPDATE: Fast ferry service will resume at 4:30 p.m. Thursday.

The fast ferry between Bremerton and Seattle will not run on Thursday morning, Kitsap Transit said.

The vessel Rich Passage 1 was taken out of service for repairs on Wednesday evening. Sailings at 7:10 p.m. and 7:45 p.m. were canceled.

As of Thursday morning, a KT spokesperson said he did not have a timetable for the vessel’s return to service.

On Friday, November 30, the RP1 was taken out of commission due to issues with the electrical controls of its water jets, spokesperson Sanjay Bhatt said. It was repaired and was ready for service the following Monday.

A second fast ferry, the M/V Reliance, is scheduled to be added to the fleet this spring. It is currently in a testing phase.

“When we take delivery later this spring, we will have a back-up fast ferry for the Bremerton-Seattle route,” a March 4 statement from Kitsap Transit reads.
