BI Council agenda busy Tuesday

Bainbridge Island has a busy City Council agenda Tuesday.

It will authorize a construction contract for $1.115 in improvements at the intersection of Sportsman Club and New Brooklyn.

It will put out bids for improvements at the BI Senior Communty Center to include heat pump and roof replacement, security and electrical upgrades, retrofitting the east wing for a more communal layout, reconfiguring the entry and expanding the thrift store.

It will also put out a budget amendment for more work on the Eagle Harbor Drive Non-Motorized Project. The original plan of 5-foot paved shoulders on both sides has been changed to separated paths on both sides at a cost of $2.5 million more.

It will receive a presentation on BI Ride. Problems with poor cell phone reception and lack of services hours were fixed. Hubs have been set up around the island, and wait times have been reduced.

It will approve a proclamation recognizing the 80th anniversary of the Japanese American internment of World War II. It will also approve a resolution supporting the BI Japanese American Exclusion Memorial and the Minidoka National Historic Site.

It will look to fund a wastewater reuse analysis and recommend a resolution for the need for another primary care clinic on BI.

It will also recommend appointments to the Planning Commission and authorize funds for the Housing Action Plan for a housing needs and assessment survey.
