Bainbridge Island Briefs

Gun robbery

The Bainbridge Island Police Department responded to a robbery and vehicle theft that occurred at 5:25 p.m. outside the Town & Country Market at 343 Winslow Way E Nov. 5.

A man armed with a handgun approached the victim in the parking lot and demanded her vehicle. The subject fled in the vehicle north on Highway 305. Police units in neighboring agencies attempted to stop the vehicle resulting in a pursuit. The pursuit was discontinued due to dangerous conditions. The vehicle was last seen traveling south on Highway 3.

The suspect was wearing a black-hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans and may have tattoos on his hands.

Anyone with information is asked to contact BIPD Department at 206-842-5211.

More patients accepted

The Suquamish Tribe’s Healing House is now accepting new patients from beyond the Suquamish tribal community for the first time since opening in March.

New patients with Medicaid (Apple) insurance can make an appointment for a doctor’s visit by calling 360-394-1350 Mondays through Fridays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. or emailing health_clinic@suquamish.nsn.us.

Save garage

Owners of the Green Light Garage are asking for the public’s help to sign a petition so it can remain open.

The owners say the new bicycle/pedestrian path around Eagle Harbor approved by the Bainbridge Island City Council could harm its business. They say the plan to put lanes on both sides of the road would take away a significant portion of its operating space.

Benefit concert

Pianist Alex Rodriguez will perform classical pieces to benefit the North Kitsap High School choir program Nov. 12 at 2 p.m. at North Point Church, 1779 NE Hostmark St. in Poulsbo.

Alex is only 15, but he is already an award-winning pianist and plays with the Bremerton Westsound Symphony.

Rodriguez’s mom, Kris, said the program lost its teacher last year due to funding, so they had to secure their own transportation this year to the state competition. They share a teacher with the Poulsbo Middle School. ”It’s a struggle every year as I’m sure it is with every arts program at many schools,” she says in an email.

All are welcome; donations are appreciated.
