POULSBO — North Kitsap is playing the waiting game.

While the Central Kitsap and Bremerton School districts appear to have passed their levies, North Kitsap parents and educators are still waiting for the final votes to be tallied before they learn whether the district’s levy — which funds staff, equipment, and transportation for every school in the district — has passed.

As of Thursday evening, 59.98 percent of voters had said “yes” to the levy. But Washington State law requires a super majority, 60 percent, in order to pass a levy.

Everyone’s waiting for Friday’s count, which may give the NKSD the edge in votes it needs, or further widen the gap between a successful levy or a failed one.

If the levy doesn’t pass, the district is expected to run a levy election again in May.
