Area schools closed due to weather, fast ferry not operating

Local school districts were closed on Monday due to inclement weather.

The Bremerton School District canceled all classes including at Open Doors and Renaissance High School, the district announced. All facilities were closed and school events were canceled.

The South Kitsap School District, Central Kitsap School District, and the North Kitsap School District all announced schools would be closed Monday due to snow. All activities and athletic events have been canceled.

Fast ferry sailings on Monday morning were also scrapped due to high winds and sea conditions, Kitsap Transit announced at 6:17 a.m. Up -to-date Kitsap Transit information, including altered bus schedules, can be found here.

The Bremerton School District reported it was experiencing problems with its email, website and phone systems caused by the winter weather that it was working to remedy Monday morning.
