Airlift called for ‘severely burned’ individual found near Suquamish

Emergency crews were called to the intersection of State Route 305 and George Lane near Suquamish at 12:49 p.m. Monday, for reports of an individual who was severely burned, found beside the road.

The individual was transported to Frank Raab Park in Poulsbo and airlifted to Harborview Medical Center.

Details remain sparse surrounding the incident as law enforcement continues to investigate the scene. Poulsbo Fire Department Deputy Chief Bruce Peterson noted that a vehicle was not involved in the incident.

According to a Poulsbo Fire Department statement, a passerby discovered a woman screaming and on fire, staggering into oncoming traffic on SR 305. Witnesses said a woman stopped her car, grabbed a blanket, and put the fire out by smothering the flames.

Emergency crews from Poulsbo, North Kitsap and Bainbridge Fire Departments, as well as Suquamish Police and Washington State Patrol responded to the scene. Washington State Patrol is leading the investigation.
