Another COVID-related death confirmed in Kitsap; 247 total

28 new cases also confirmed

On Wednesday, the Kitsap Public Health District confirmed another COVID-related death, bringing the countywide total to 247 since the pandemic began in March of 2020 and 201 this year.

Details on the three most-recent deaths have not yet been provided by the health district. Of the 244 prior deaths, 95 were ages 80 and older, 59 ages 70-79, 47 ages 60-69, 30 ages 50-59, nine ages 40-49 and four ages 30-39.

Additionally, 28 new COVID cases were confirmed in the previous 24 hours, bringing the countywide total to 18,015 since the pandemic began. Of the new cases, North Kitsap had three and Bainbridge Island none; 10 were in South Kitsap, 12 in Bremerton and four in Central Kitsap.

Over the last week, the county’s case rate per 100,000 residents is at 111. A total of 269 cases are in their recommended “isolation period” (10 days after first symptoms.) To date, the number of Kitsap County residents who have initiated vaccination is 68.1%.

Of the 18,015 total cases, 638 have been reported on Bainbridge Island, 4,838 in Bremerton, 3,974 in Central Kitsap, 2,797 in North Kitsap and 5,760 in South Kitsap. Eight cases have come from “unknown” areas of the county.
