HOMETOWN: Hansville.

BRANCH: U.S. Navy.

YEARS OF SERVICE: 1941-45; official honorable discharge in 1960.

HIGHEST RANK ATTAINED: Lieutenant.

SIGNIFICANT DUTY STATIONS OR DEPLOYMENTS DURING THE WAR: Served in the South Pacific on the aircraft carrier USS Hornet. Ace fighter pilot; awarded the Congressional Gold Medal on May 20, 2015.

POST-WAR CAREER: Started Financial Planning, Inc., in Long Beach, California, and was an estate planner for 40 years. Inducted in the Long Beach City College Hall of Fame.
