Eclectic entertainment or one-man variety act?

Whatever you want to call it, that’s what The Great Kaplan is bringing for a one-night-only show at 7 p.m. Feb. 17 to the Admiral Theatre stage.

Part juggling master, magician, inventor, musician and deadpan comedian in the vein of Peter Sellers, Victor Borge and Buster Keaton, multi-talented David Kaplan lets the audience in on the humor.

Whether it’s juggling bean bag chairs, levitating a bowling ball, spinning plates or playing a melody on his “concert balloon,” Kaplan isn’t above shameless gimmickry developed for his show during the past three decades.

His spectacle, which includes what he calls “The Musical Turkey Baster” and “Water To Wine” has garnered him spots on “The View” and “The Statler Brothers Show,” several cruise ship gigs in Alaska, the Mediterranean, and Tahiti, and as the opening act for a number of comedians including the Smothers Brothers, Steven Wright, Dennis Miller, David Spade and David Brenner.

Unlike many of the comedians he’s opened for, the high-flying Kaplan is an all-ages act suitable for the whole family.

“Spectators, young and old, are welcomed into a wonderfully strange world they will not soon forget,” his Web site www.davidkaplanshow.com proclaims.

Kaplan lives in Columbus, Ohio, with his wife and two children.

Tickets for the show are $14 for the main floor and loge areas, $8 for balcony seats. Tickets are available at the Admiral Theatre box office, 515 Pacific Ave., in downtown Bremerton between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. weekdays or by calling (360) 373-6743.
