Slaughter County Brewing in Port Orchard hosted a fundraiser Feb. 15 for the Kitsap Humane Society, raising $296.

“We had a great turnout at Pints for Pets,” Kimberly Allen, Kitsap Humane Society’s events and outreach coordinator, said. “About 75 supporters attended. Slaughter County Brewing donated $1 from every pour, and gave us $87 total, and attendees donated the rest

“We also had a supply drive and received approximately $150 worth of items from our wishlist.”

“Pints for Pets” is an ongoing fundraiser where the Humane Society partners with local breweries to receive donations, introduce adoptable pets and get involved in the community.

Other breweries that have taken part are Slippery Pig in Poulsbo, LoveCraft in Bremerton, Hood Canal Brewery in Kingston, Bainbridge Brewing and several other breweries and bars in the area. The first event was held at Central Dock in Port Orchard Dec. 1.

At each event, $1 of every pour, and sometimes $1 of every food item purchased, is donated to Kitsap Humane Society. Donations of collars, toys, towels and other supplies are also encouraged.

The next “Pints for Pets” will take place March 8 at Slippery Pig Brewery in Poulsbo.

Kitsap Humane Society is a nonprofit organization that is open noon to 5:30 p.m., Wednesday-Sunday, and noon to 6:30 p.m. on Thursdays.
