Ross Emory Berglund | Passages

Ross Emory Berglund of Bainbridge Island passed away on March 5 in Swedish Hospital in Seattle after suffering congestive heart failure. His sons Steven, Daniel and Timothy were at his bedside. He was 97. He was born Oct. 30, 1913 in Aberdeen, Wash., to Harry and Anastasia (Nettie) Berglund, both deceased.

Ross Emory Berglund of Bainbridge Island passed away on March 5 in Swedish Hospital in Seattle after suffering congestive heart failure. His sons Steven, Daniel and Timothy were at his bedside.

He was 97.

He was born Oct. 30, 1913 in Aberdeen, Wash., to Harry and Anastasia (Nettie) Berglund, both deceased.

He attended Aberdeen High School and graduated in 1941 from Washington State University with a bachelor of science degree in geology. After college, he worked for Boeing as a lead engineer and supervisor for 35 years, retiring in 1976.

Ross was a member of the Catholic Church and a museum associate working with invertebrate fossils at the Burke Museum in Seattle.

Surviving are a sister, Doris (Bruce) of Lakeport, Calif.; brother, Thomas of Montesano; sister, Margaret (Ed) of Union; sons, Steven and Daniel of Burien, and Timothy of Silverdale; grandchildren, Jason of Yakima, Michelle (Jon) of Snohomish, and Jennene (Stephen) of Houston; and eight great-grandchildren.

Private graveside service will be held at Mountain View Cemetery in Silverdale at a later date.
