Izzy in a tizzy

SKFR gets a curious Great Pyrenees out of a tight fix

PORT ORCHARD — While it’s fairly common knowledge that curiosity often gets the cat, dogs take part in more than their fair share of mischief.

For example, take the case of Izzy, a curious Great Pyrenees out for her morning constitutional last week in South Kitsap. During a sunny session spent sniffing the scents of springtime, the snowy white canine followed a path less traveled, which led to a too-tight fix inside a cluster of logs in a woodpile.

Fortunately, her owners were nearby to witness Izzy’s predicament and called for assistance from South Kitsap Fire and Rescue. The crew from Engine 10 Company knew just what to do. With saws in hand, they made quick work of the woodpile, freeing the dog from her imprisonment.

This week, Izzy presumably is doing her sniffing while attached to a tighter leash.
