Central Kitsap Farmer’s Market opens in Old Town Silverdale

SILVERDALE — The newest farmers market in Kitsap County opened at 3 p.m. May 2 with a ribbon cutting in Old Town Silverdale’s Waterfront Park.

The Central Kitsap Farmers Market is organized by the Kitsap Community and Agriculture Alliance (www.kitsapag.org). The market will be open 3-7 p.m. Tuesdays through Oct. 10.

KCAA board president Holly James said the market will feature products from local farmers, artisans, food vendors, and crafters.

“We decided to create the new market in response to the Central Kitsap community’s request to provide a centralized outlet for producers and access to fresh, healthy foods,” James said in an announcement of the venture. “CKFM — Central Kitsap Farmers Market — is in keeping with the basic thrust of our mission statement.”

KCAA is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting agriculture, farmers, and agricultural education on the Kitsap Peninsula.

Meanwhile, the Silverdale Farmers Market, which was formerly located next to Waterfront Park, will open at 10 a.m. May 2 in the Best Buy parking lot at 9551 NW Ridgetop Blvd., Silverdale. That market will operate from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesdays from May 2 through September.
