With the Dems come tax hikes | Bremerton Patriot Letters to the Editor

Albert Einstein once said insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. I’ve lived here for more than 14 years. I am amazed each election cycle to see the same Democrats re-elected after everyone I hear from complain about all of the additional taxes and spending the taxpayers here have shouldered as a result of the policies of the very same Democrats.

At a town hall forum in Hansville recently, I couldn’t believe that all the incumbent Democrats could offer as a solution to the impending state budget deficit of $3.2 billion were more tax hikes. Even more interesting was Gregoire’s complete denial of this looming deficit problem through the first two governor’s debates. Further confusion rests with Democrats’ belligerent resistance to implementing the recommendations of Democrat State Auditor Brian Sonttag’s performance audits that could save the state hundreds of millions.

CPAs are generally known for their conservative nature and for not taking risks, but here’s a wager I’ll accept from anyone out there: If you re-elect this same group of Democrats for governor and the Legislature, I’ll bet that you will see plenty more tax hikes and increases in spending.

will keep our state green

Dino Rossi has supported the same deregulatory ideology that caused our economic meltdown — including the crippling revenue shortfall that now faces Washington state.

Dino Rossi ads smearing Gov. Chris Gregoire were paid for by some of the state’s biggest, most anti-environmental developers. With visions of deregulation and a “license to sprawl,” the Building Industry Association of Washington and its affiliates are spending $7 million to buy this election. That is more than the state Republican Party has spent on all candidates combined (Seattle Weekly, Oct. 15-21)

Let’s keep Washington green. Vote for Gov. Gregoire.
